It is good to love God for hope of reward in this or the next world, but it is better to love God for love's sake. Love without the hope of reward - love unselfishly for love's sake. Flowers do not give us anything but our nature is to love the grand, the beautiful, therefore we love them. Similarly, we love the Lord. He is the source of all beauty, of all sublimity. He is the only object to beloved. Our nature is to love Him, and therefore we love. we must not pray for any- thing we shoulnt ask for anything. Let Him place us wherever He likes. we must love Him for love's sake. we cannot trade in love.
